What happened?
Go Ahead Eagles finally secured a win in the Eredivisie on Sunday. Against bottom-of-the-table Heracles Almelo (4-0), Melvin Boel's team picked up the much-needed three points at home.
The win was celebrated extensively in Deventer on Sunday evening. Tijmen van Wissing, a journalist for RTV Oost, reported on X that the win was well celebrated.
How did the club react?
However, the aftermath a day later was less celebratory. According to Van Wissing, controversy arose, particularly around assistant coach Rick Adjei.
The journalist wrote that alcohol may have been stolen and that an assistant coach was taken away by the police. Based on footage, it appears to be Adjei.
What's next?
General director Jan Willem van Dop allegedly went to the café, as the situation is more nuanced than suggested on social media.
The club will release a statement later in the day. What exactly happened remains unclear for now. Various accounts are circulating.
